The new Kia Optima is a smart mid-size sedan that comes completely packed with features. For one, what sets the new Kia Optima apart from last year’s edition, are the Stinger-inspired LED running daytime lights, smart 16-inch alloy wheels, and a matte-gray grill. These updates have been generously rolled out over the entire range this year. In addition, the S model, has better projection-beam fog lamps, a dual exhaust, superior 18-inch cloys, LED taillights and a gloss-black grille. The SX model, goes one step further, and has been revamped with gloss-black door pillars and side moldings, a trendy sports bumper and LED fog lamps. Under the hood, the engine has been pretty much carried over from the last edition.

Most of the interior enhancements are minor, like the dual tone leather upholstered seats and a Harman Kardon audio system, which come standard on the premium variants. However, one difference in the new Kia Optima is that the UVO multimedia system available on last year’s models has been reconditioned into a tiered user-friendly system.

The new Optima is the first car in Kia’s lineup to have been given this enhancement and the company will look to roll it out across its other lineups too. On the base models, the UVO Play system has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto interfaces. Plus, the UVO Link System also offers an entire range of safety and driver assist technologies and supports like the vehicle alarm alerts, geofencing and speed notifications, climate control, remote capabilities like locking and unlocking and other maintenance notifications. The UVO Link system is standard on the mid-level S and EX models. The top-level tier UVO Link system that includes navigation technology is offered as a standard feature on the SX editions as part of the SXL package. The system is also available to the EX trim with the premium package.

The new Kia Optima has an entire range of safety assists that have been made standard across the board. These include the forward collision avoidance assist that automatically applies pressure on the braking system and sends out an alert. The driver attention warning system tracks how attentive the driver is and will alert the driver if it senses a reduction in concentration. In addition, the lane departure warning system includes lane-keep-intelligence that can amazingly correct the steering if the vehicle veers away from the course. The new Kia Optima has a smart, practical interior that will keep you comfortable on long excursions. The number of features offered and the quality enhancements made in the vehicle will give you far more for less. With new and comparatively more affordable and efficient powertrains, ample storage and with one of the best carrying capacities in its segment might just see the 2019 Kia Optima overtake competitors in its class.
