2020 Telluride

With its bold styling and gigantic size, the 2020 Telluride will be the biggest crossover launched by Kia. It set to go into the markets in May this year. While the original designs are based on the Sorento, the new Telluride is far more interesting to look at and has practical designs for head and taillights. The silhouette of the vehicle is boxy yet angular.

The powertrain comes with a 3.8-liter V6 engine that can generate 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. This has been coupled with 8-speed automatic transmission. There is an optional all-wheel drive which can vary the torque split from 100 percent on the front wheels to 65/35 split in the sport mode. The model also comes with a self-leveling rear air suspension.

The Telluride is several inches longer than its predecessor, the Kia Sorento. Its cabin is way more spacious, especially for those seated in the back. The car can house eight passengers with second-row bench seats or seven passengers with an optional captain’s chair. The interiors are crafted with quilted Nappa leather seats and come with a 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Kia is also bringing a suite of driving assist tools to all Telluride models such as blind-spot monitoring, automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, and rear parking sensors. Some of the other driver-assist features will include sensors that will detect if there are children or pets left behind in the car and a lockout feature for the rear doors in case a fast-moving object approaches too close to the vehicle.

Telluride’s 197-inch size means that it’ll occupy more space than its competitors like Honda Pilot and Honda Highlander, but it’s not as big as the Toyota Sequoia or the Chevy Tahoe. The upright grille which is flanked by tall headlights with LED halos come in most trims and gives this model a mini-suburban appearance. The V6 engine works well; and in combination with the 8-speed transmission system, can be a pleasure to drive. The 2020 Telluride from Kia is a crossover to look forward to.
